New PyeNet Universal Website

PyeNet Universal has implemented the SilverStripe CMS to manage the www.pyenet.co.nz website. SilverStripe is an Open Source Content Management System developed here in Wellington, New Zealand.

SilverStripe provides a flexible framework for managing the content of websites, from small static sites through to a large corporate web presence, SilverStripe gives the ability to add features, via a module system, as needed.

RSS Feed for the Tips n Tricks section added

The Tips n Tricks section of the PyeNet Universal web site now has an updated RSS Feed utilising the new features of the SilverStripe CMS. Check out the Tips n Tricks pages.

Bookmark Holder Reaches 700 Downloads

The PyeNet Universal's Bookmark Holder Open Source Project has reached 700 downloads.

Hosted on Sourceforge.net the Bookmark Holder project has reached 700 downloads.

PyeNet's other project the SyndStore web based RSS Feed aggregator has reached over 600 downloads.

Development on both projects has slowed over the last few months while internal projects here at PyeNet have been moving forward. Once these have been completed further features will be added and published to Sourceforge. Keep your eyes and ears open.

Random Links feature added to the PyeNet website

A new feature has been added to the PyeNet Universal website that displays links to other sites of interest picked randomly each time a visitor loads the home page.

This feature has been added to the SilverStripe CMS, that the PyeNet website is running on, via it's modular framework.

The Random Links module was coded by PyeNet Universal and has been used a the basis of a tutorial on writing modules for the SilverStripe CMS framework.

Search Feature Added

A new search feature has been added to the PyeNet Universal website.

This feature is based on the tutorials provided by SilverStripe on their website to allow developers to customise features of their client's SilverStripe installations.

The PyeNet Universal Search can be utilised from any page on the PyeNet website using the search input dialog.

New Script Added to Development

A new script has been added to the Development section. This is a quick hack that I used on my previous non-SilverStripe website to update files and set correct permissions on them. Check out Update Website Permissions Script.

New Tip: Dealing with spaces in scp command

A new tip was added to the Tips n Tricks area.

This deals with the syntax required to allow the scp command to deal with spaces in paths and filenames.
